Solstice
June Solstice
The summer solstice occurs on June 20th at 9:42 p.m. when the sun's zenith is at its furthest point from the equator. On the June solstice, it reaches its northernmost point. When this occurs the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere.
December Solstice
The Winter Solstice happens when the sun's zenith is at its furthest point from the equator. On the December solstice, it reaches its southernmost point. When this occurs the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere. The winter solstice occurs at 9:03 am CST, Dec. 21, 2025.
