Lyrids Meteor Shower
April 22, 2023
The Lyrids will peak on the night of Apr 22–23 (Saturday night-Sunday morning). The moon is not a factor this year. Since the shower is happening on the weekend it should make for a great show weather permitting. The Lyrids produce about 18 meteors an hour at the peak. The meteors from this shower are created by debris from comet Thatcher, which takes about 415 years to orbit around the Sun. The comet is expected to be visible from Earth again in 2276.
