On March 23, 2025, Saturn’s rings will appear to “disappear” because they will be edge-on as viewed from Earth. This is called a “ring plane crossing.”  Earth makes passes through the ring plane every 13 to 15 years, about every half Saturn year, and there are about equal chances of either a single or three crossings occurring in each such occasion.
