I’ve been meaning to create a Spotify playlist of songs that are astronomy, space or sci-fi themed for some time now. I’ve finally done it. It’s complete. Okay well, sort of. As you probably know Spotify playlists can be added to or updated at any time. So in that sense it’s never really complete. So let’s just say I’m at a point where I feel comfortable with sharing it with all of you space music lovers out there.
You might recall back in April of 2014 my “Musical Interlude” post on this blog which included 11 songs in no particular order that were astronomy and space themed. We’ll that was a fun post and I did get some positive feedback from folks who enjoyed the music. Now with Spotify I’ve expanded on that humble beginning and have created a playlist of over 125 songs with a run-time of almost 9 hours!
I dug deep in the interstellar jukebox and pulled some really good star stuff for your listening pleasure. There are all types musical genres from easy listening to classic and hard or progressive rock to country to stuff from movie soundtracks. I’ve been listening to this playlist for a couple of days now and must say that I’m quite happy with it. I hope you will be to.
If you are new to Spotify or are not sure how it works here’s the lowdown. Spotify is a digital music streaming service that gives you access to millions of songs, podcasts and videos from artists all over the world. The best thing about it is it’ free. Download the app to your mobile device, Mac or PC, create a Spotify account using your email address or you can link to it with your Facebook account to get started.
The free edition of Spotify does have 30-60 sec ads or commercials every 30 minutes or so but for that you get access to all the music you can possibly imagine, and can create your own playlists with your favorites or just search out playlists that fit your style or mood. It’s that easy. Once you have a Spotify account you can access my “Scott’s Astronomy Page” playlist to listen to it anytime you like. Don’t forget to add my playlist to your “favorites” but if you do forget just know that you can always find my playlist by using the Spotify icon listed on the right-hand side of my bog page along with all the other social media icons.
Rock on!
