SUMMARY:Total Lunar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes completely through the Earth’s dark shadow\, or umbra. During this type of eclipse\, the Moon will gradually get darker and then take on a rusty or blood red color. This lunar eclipse will be visible throughout all of North America\, Mexico\, Central America\, and South America. The eclipse begins in the DFW area at 10:57 p.m. CDT on March 13th. Max eclipse occurs at 1:58 a.m. Friday morning March 14th\, and the eclipse ends at 5:00 a.m.

SUMMARY:Full Moon
DESCRIPTION:The Full Moon occurs at 1:54 a.m. on March 14th when the Moon is opposite the sun in its orbit around Earth. Its sunlit side is entirely visible from Earth. The moon appears full to the eye for two to three nights. However\, astronomers regard the moon as full at a precisely defined instant\, when the moon is exactly 180 degrees opposite the sun in ecliptic longitude.

SUMMARY:Saturn Ring Plane Crossing
DESCRIPTION:On March 23\, 2025\, Saturn’s rings will appear to “disappear” because they will be edge-on as viewed from Earth. This is called a “ring plane crossing.”  Earth makes passes through the ring plane every 13 to 15 years\, about every half Saturn year\, and there are about equal chances of either a single or three crossings occurring in each such occasion.

SUMMARY:New Moon
DESCRIPTION:The new moon happens at 5:57 a.m. on March 29th when the moon is in between the Earth and the Sun on its orbital path. The new moon is described as invisible because the part of the moon that is illuminated by the Sun is not facing the Earth. Only the dark side of the moon is visible.

SUMMARY:Partial Solar Eclipse
DESCRIPTION:A partial solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers only a part of the Sun. A partial solar eclipse can only be safely observed with a solar filter. This partial eclipse will be visible throughout Greenland and most of northern Europe. It will not be visible for most of North America but those in the northeastern United States and Canada will be able see it. The eclipse is in progress as the Sun rises on March 29th for those in the northeastern part of the U.S.
